I have been a teacher of History and an administrator in education for over twenty years, fifteen of which have been spent at Hillel. I have been Principal of Hillel Academy High School for the past six years.
I hold a Diploma in Education from Mico College, a B.A. in History from the University of the West Indies and a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Walden University.
My early years as a teacher at Hillel made me acutely aware of the needs of the school community, most particularly the need to raise the standards of the School to an international level. With a renewed philosophy on behalf of all the stakeholders of the School, including the Board of Directors, we set to work, teachers, students, parents and other staff members working together in contributing to a new vision and mission statement for Hillel Academy.
My firm belief in exposing students to the highest calibre teaching methodologies ensures that all students have the guidance needed for them to succeed at the highest levels.
I believe that a successful school is dependent on the entire community working closely together. I believe in empowering faculty members to do their jobs effectively through regular international and intramural professional training.
I have been at the helm during the following important curriculum changes to support the overall vision and strategic direction of the School including:
- the introduction and implementation of the IGCSE curriculum
- the authorization of Hillel as an I.B. world School and thus the introduction and implementation of the I.B. Diploma curriculum
- the introduction and implementation of a professional development programme for teachers to improve classroom practice by attending internationally recognised workshops at the International Baccalaureate's Diploma & IGCSE level.
- the improvement in the Visual and Performing Arts programme which is critical to the overall development of the student.
When I’m not at Hillel I enjoy reading all genre of literature on World History and for lighter moments, Agatha Christie novels!
